KOIBOY

Minor - Denim Specialisation 

For this minor we got to team up with all the 3 departments at AMFI and create a new brand extension line for the given denim brand. Our group had the pleasure to work with the Amsterdam based denim label Kings of Indigo. 

What inspired KOIBOY was the key finding that jeans usually does not get fully recycled. What happens is that they cut of the top part because this is where are the hardware is placed. A design solution avoiding these problems was creating detachable pockets and re-using the legs.

This new silhouette coincidentally reminded us of traditional western cowboy jeans, which is also one of the big influences that KOI works with, the American perspective and usability of denim. This is where our concept KOIBOY came to life.
